Youth Emergency Shelter

YES: The Youth Emergency Shelter 196 Brock Street Peterborough On average, each night of the year the
Youth Emergency Shelter provides emergency housing to 15 individuals. Those individuals may be youth, men or
women as young as 16 on their own or they may be a family, parents and
children living together in just about every possible
configuration. For a variety of reasons they need a safe, warm place to stay…sometimes for a few
days sometimes for several weeks. The length of stay at the shelter varies,
but in general youth clients are expected to find more
permanent housing within six weeks. Residents are required to look for
housing and either attend school or go to work. Shelter staff provide assistance and
advice with this and help residents get in touch with
other organizations and services that work with youth and families. If you are 16 to 24 years of age and have nowhere to go please contact us to
determine your eligibility. We also accept families in distress. The health and safety of both the residents and staff is important to us. Violence therefore will not be tolerated under any circumstance, and an individual may be asked to leave
and/or be banned from services. To reach YES call 705 748-3851 or visit our location at 196 Brock Street, Peterborough. We’re open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
