Explore Planet Earth Spartan 3 Hiking Tent – Features

– For adventures on a budget, let’s take a look at the features of the Explore Planet Earth Spartan Three. (upbeat music) Hey guys, it’s Lauren from Snowys here. Today I have with me the Explore Planet Earth
Spartan Three tent. It’s great for hikers on a budget, motorcycle tours or bicycle packards that you’re in a group, you need a bit of extra room for storage. Any of that sort of stuff. It’s got quite a few features and we’re gonna run
through them for you now. Before we do that though, I’ve got a packed one here. It weighs just over
three kilos, about 3.3. And it has overall dimensions
of 48 centimetres long and about 16 centimetres in diameter. Right, let’s get into it. With the materials of the Spartan, the fly is a polyester
that’s rated to 4000 mils, and you can see here we’ve
got seam sealing throughout. Your tent inner is a polyester, with these no-see-em mesh panels, which are the best
rating to keep our midges and other tiny insects out. And the floor is a 70 denier polyester, which is rated to a
5000 mil waterproofing. The frame itself is made up
of three aluminium poles. In terms of features on the outside, there’s not a huge amount going on. But we’ll just run through them now. We’ve got these colour coded fly straps, so red pole for your red strap, and on the other side here, you’ll see we’ve got the yellow pole and the yellow straps. At the top here, we have a vent flap, which you can have resting still, but ’cause of this little
ridged reinforcing, I guess, in here, and this other little strap, you can just Velcro that, and it’ll give it a lot of air flow. Coming around to the front, we have these really large vestibules, now this is gonna be
the same on either side, so I’m just gonna show you this one. We’ve got these big zip toggles here. That zip comes straight down, and we can just peg it out
like so with this Velcro flap to keep the zip weatherproof. All right, so let’s open
up these doorways here. And we’ll have a look inside the tent. So we do have this little
toggle and loop here for anchoring your door panels. So with our internal mesh door panel here, it’s a big teardrop shape, we’ve got a couple of options. There’s a dual zip slider, so it doesn’t matter what orientation you wanna enter into your tent. You can open it either side. Or alternatively, the nifty thing is you
can undo both zips up, and it almost completely
removes that door for you. And whilst I’m not 100% sure
what the intention of it is, there are a little small
roof pocket on either side that you can just tuck that
fly in and out of the way. So I’m gonna have a crawl inside. In terms of internal
features, it’s pretty simple. We do have a storage
pocket on all four corners of the Spartan. And one down here. And one over here as well. And we’ve got this little
ring at the top here for suspending your head torch
or another little lantern. And again, we have this pocket here which you can use for
storage or for storing and tucking away your mesh
panel, fully unzipped. So whilst we’re in the tent, your internal dimensions
are 210 centimetres long. We’ve got 180 centimetres wide, and a maximum head height
up to about 110 centimetres. Now I’ve already put in a
regular sized hiking mat, just to give you a bit of gauge of size. So obviously you will be able
to fit three people in here no problems, or even two
people with a bit of gear, so the room is quite large. Right, let’s jump on the outside again. So externally, your Spartan
Three has some dimensions of 215 centimetres long. And an overall width of
320 centimetres wide, including the vestibules. Now if you are a little bit OCD or aesthetically challenged like I am, you’ll notice that it’s
not 100% symmetrical. And it is a little bit weird, but that’s down to the construction, which we will go through in
our setup and pack up video. That’s about it for the
features of the Spartan Three. You can get it at snowys.com.au at our lowest prices everyday. If you found this video
