Coleman Instant Up Northstar 10P Dark Room Tent Walk Through & Review

– Hi there, guys. This is Nick
from Tentworld Townsville. Gonna do a bit of a
walkthrough for you today in one of our most popular tents, the Coleman Northstar
Dark Room Instant Tent. This is one of the larger instant tents that you’re gonna find
out here on the market. It’s at six metres long
and 2.3 metres deep so it gives you lots of room on the inside for up to 10 people or six
people sleeping in comfort. We’ll do a bit of a walkthrough. Show you some of the rooms on the inside, then show you some of the
outside features as well. Come on inside. It is a dark room tent
so mind the lighting. Come one in. Here on the first room as you come inside, this can be a living area. I’ll just fire off the torch if it’s a little bit dark for everybody. Over here, we’ve got the first bedroom on the left-hand side where
mom and dad can sleep. Now, if you open up all
the windows and doors, you can get heaps of air through. If you look down low, you’ve
got low vented windows to let the air flow along the ground. Large windows, of course, to let light in. And even another door on the end. Turning around to the inside room. To show you exactly how dark
it is, we’ll turn that off. When these are closed out completely, you’re gonna block out 99% of the light which is also gonna keep it cooler on the inside of the tent as well. If you come on back to
the living area over here, this also has a couple great features. You’ve got some pockets
built in to the side for all sorts of your camping accessories and bits and pieces like your torches which you certainly might need if it’s dark on the inside of the tent. All right. Let’s jump back out to the outside to show you some other things. One of the great things here about the Northstar is
how you can set it up to be just the way you like it. You would’ve noticed on
the doors on the inside, they’ve got two layers. You’ve got a solid layer for privacy, or you can actually
just close the bug mesh if you just wanna keep the bugs out if you’ve got the front door open. Along the front of it,
you can have it set up like we’ve got here, or if you wanna have a
nice, big canopy awning at the front of it, what you can do is zip
down that front door on both sides, reach down here to the zip, and by putting the four poles with it that come along with the tent, you can actually stretch that right out. And if you like, you can
even remove that door. You would’ve noticed when I lifted that fly out just then, you’ve got this black layer
on the inside of the fly. That’s a special treatment
that’s been applied to it. That blocks out 95% of the light and also acts as a bit of an insulator keeping the inside of the
tent a little bit cooler. The fly is also a ripstop material so what that means is if you
get a little tear in there, it’s less likely to shoot off and put a tear all the
way through your fly. As we said before, this
is one of the larger of the instant tents from Coleman. Now, most of the other instant
tents have a central hub right at the middle of the tent where all four legs or six legs will come out and down to the corners. These ones are a little bit different. They still have the telescoping design so after you take your fly off, of course, to pack it away, you pack
those to telescope it down. But what they use are four arches that go from one side of
the tent to the other. So, it still makes it very quick to setup, but just a bit of a different design to the other instant tents
that you can see out there. Like the other Gold Series
Tent in Coleman range, they have a heavy-duty PE floor that’s a dual layer with
polyester and PVC flooring so it makes it very durable on the ground. There you have it. That’s the Coleman Northstar
Dark Room 10-Person Tent. These are, I used to say, they’re a very popular tent for families. Great for if you’ve got a couple of little kiddies that wanna go. When the sun comes up in the morning, it’s not gonna wake them up
at five o’clock in the morning so it lets you have a sleep-in. If somebody like to have
a nap during the day, you’ve got that extra darkness that will help you get
that bit of a sleep. And as I’ve said, it even
keeps your tent cooler which is great for us here in Australia. Pop on down to a Tentworld
store to check one out, or go to tentworld.com.au.

  1. We have had one of these for the last couple of years (just upgraded to a caravan), but it’s the best tent we’ve owned. Very easy and super quick to put up and down and extremely dark which was great for the kids. Highly recommend!
